By controlling the drive system, the control system tracks the sun based on the latitude, longitude and local time values downloaded from the GPS device to keep the solar panels at the most suitable angle for sunlight, thus maximizing the use of sunlight.

 

Single Axis Solar Tracker

 

These systems track the sun's movement along a single axis, typically from east to west. They can be either horizontal or tilted. Horizontal single-axis trackers rotate the PV panels around a horizontal axis, while tilted single-axis trackers adjust the tilt angle of the panels throughout the day. By tracking the position of the sun, the combined power output of a PV plant can be increased by 10-25 percent.
